What exactly are space and bandwidth/data transfer?
At StickyHosting, we want to make sure you understand the key aspects of your hosting plan: disk space and bandwidth/data transfer.
Disk Space
Disk space refers to the size of your website. Every element on your site, whether it’s text, images, scripts, or databases, needs to be stored on the server. Each character on your website is stored as one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes.
While HTML pages are typically small in size, things like images, scripts, and databases can consume much larger amounts of disk space. So, the more content you have, the more disk space you’ll need.
Bandwidth/Data Transfer
Bandwidth (or data transfer) refers to the amount of data your site can send to visitors in a given month. It’s measured in gigabytes, which are billions of bytes.
When your website exceeds the monthly bandwidth limit, your hosting account will be temporarily suspended for the rest of the month. But don’t worry — at StickyHosting, we offer unlimited data transfer (bandwidth) on most of our hosting plans, so you can run your website without worrying about hitting limits.
