Domain Transfer Restriction (ICANN 60-Day Rule)

Domain Transfer Restriction (ICANN 60-Day Rule)

According to ICANN regulations, a domain name cannot be transferred to another registrar within 60 days of a previous transfer. This policy is designed to prevent fraud and ensure domain security.

If a domain has been transferred recently (within the last 60 days), any further transfer requests will be automatically blocked until the 60-day period has passed.

Key Points:

  • Applies to all gTLDs (e.g., .com, .net, .org).

  • The 60-day period starts from the date the domain was transferred to a new registrar.

  • This is a mandatory ICANN policy and cannot be overridden.
