Email Setup on Entourage

How to Add an Email Account to Entourage on Mac OS X

Follow the steps below to set up your email account in Entourage, configure it with the correct server settings, and use either SSL or non-SSL ports for secure connections.

1. Open Entourage

  • Launch the Entourage application on your Mac OS X.

2. Add a New Email Account

  • Click on Tools in the top menu.

  • Select Accounts from the drop-down menu.

  • Click the New button and then choose Mail.

3. Configure Account Manually

  • In the "New Account" window, enter your Name (this will identify the account in Entourage).

  • Select Configure account manually.

4. Enter Account Information

  • Fill in the required details in the Edit Account window:

    • Account ID: Enter your email address (the address you want to receive mail at).

    • Email address: Enter the full email address (e.g., user@example.com).

    • Password: Enter the password for your email account.

    • Incoming Mail Server: Enter the POP or IMAP server provided in your cPanel's "Email Accounts" section under Configure Mail Client.

    • SMTP Server: Use the same server address as the incoming mail server.

5. Save Password Option

  • Optionally, you can check the box labeled Save password in my Mac OS keychain. This will save your password and prevent Entourage from asking you for it each time you send or receive email.

6. Set Up Non-SSL Based Ports

  • Click the Advanced Sending Options button.

  • Ensure that SMTP server requires authentication is checked and that Use same settings as receiving mail server is selected.

  • Click OK to return to the main Entourage window.

7. Set Up SSL-Based Ports (Recommended for Security)

  • To configure SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) for a more secure connection, follow these steps:

Incoming (IMAP or POP3) Settings:

  • Click Advanced Receiving Options.

  • Check This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL).

  • Set Override default IMAP port to 993 (for IMAP) or use the appropriate port for POP3 if needed.

Outgoing (SMTP) Settings:

  • Click Advanced Sending Options.

  • Check SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL).

  • Set Override default SMTP port to 465.

  • Ensure SMTP server requires authentication is checked.

  • Keep the option Use same settings as receiving mail server selected.

8. Complete the Setup

  • Click OK to save all settings and return to the main window.

Conclusion

Your email account should now be fully configured in Entourage, with either SSL or non-SSL settings based on your preference. You can now send and receive emails securely through your account.
